WHO WE ARE

We are original, creative, imaginative. We dream big, and our art is not only visual and contemplative. It is the result of creativity, innovation, and a deep connection with the Galapagos. For example, with a cup of coffee, you can sense an exquisite aroma and flavor of a bean grown less than 500 meters above sea level. Our product challenges the traditional beliefs that good coffee is produced only in high altitudes.

Our artisans and artists have different backgrounds, ages, and dreams, and they are all joined by the belief to preserve the unique nature of the islands, and they all want to share them with pride to the world in all their works. Their inspiration comes from the shapes, colors, and unique textures of the environment surrounding them.

Each stroke of their hands, chisels, or brushes shapes the exotic beauty of flora and fauna of the islands. Giant tortoises, marine iguanas, red and blue-footed boobies, penguins, cormorants, albatrosses, hawks, and unique pieces in glass, wood, or recycled garbage so that they Galapagos, forever remain the enchanted islands.

Navigate with us through this ocean of stories with talented artists who represent different generations of inhabitants of this magical archipelago to learn about their works and the special message that each one of them carries.

OUR BACKGROUND

Local artists, artisans and producers are a source of pride for the Galapagos community. They capture the colors and shapes of nature in their paintings and carvings, promote conservation using recycled material for their artwork, to transform a piece of paper, glass, plastic into unique and beautiful crafts, and to develop a local coffee culture.

Galapagos Handmade is a space to connect Galapagos artist, artisans and producers with those who wish to take home a souvenir of a unique place in the world.
OUR ALLIANCE

The mission of Galapagos Handmade is to support the reactivation of the economy of local artists in the Galapagos. It is an initiative to last over time.

Many families of artist, artisans and producers in the Galapagos are deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 80% of the islands live from tourism. At that juncture, a strategic alliance between Fundación un Cambio por la Vida (FUNCAVID) and Celebrity Cruises was consolidated, making it possible to create a platform that exposes the products of artist, artisans and producers to the world.
